On June 1 and 2 we were at the Ahnapee River Trails Campground just north of Algoma, Wisconsin. We were delighted to find that the Ahnapee State Trail passed beside the campground. Spanning a distance about 46 miles between Kewaunee, Luxemburg, Casco, Algoma and Sturgeon Bay, the Ahnapee State Trail is used year-around. In the warmer months the crushed limestone trail is used by horseback riders, walkers, and bicyclists. In the winter it is used for snowmobiling and cross country skiers.
In our two-day visit to the campground we did not take time to get out the bicycles, but we did enjoy lengthy walks on the trail several times.
